Story

Thank you for visiting our page.

Lorna and I have decided to challenge ourselves to trekking up a bit of a hill in memory of my husband Martin Morgan who sadly died on 16th March this year. That bit of a hill being Kilimanjaro which is Africa’s tallest peak, and the world’s tallest free-standing mountain. The summit, named Uhuru Point, is 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level.

Martin had an extraordinary zest for life, even up to the last week of his life, despite enduring years of ill health with 4 different primary cancers, but the main cancer, Retroperitoneal tissue Sarcoma he lived with for over 25 years, enduring many operations, chemo, and radiotherapy. I will always remain in awe of this man who dealt with everything with humour, humility, and the determination to live whatever life was dealing him. He is missed every day by me, his children, grandchildren and our families, and friends.

I know he would absolutely be cheering me and Lorna on and would not even doubt for a second that we will not manage it and it is with this attitude that we approach it. We are even going to stick to a training plan!! (Lorna would have anyway, not sure about me – I think my usual style would have been to roll out of bed on the morning and just go for it). However, the reason we are doing it is to raise as much money as possible for Sarcoma UK so that the charity can continue their dedicated work to research this rare cancer and support all those people diagnosed.

Lorna and I are self-funding our own trips which means that 100% of every penny you donate will go to Sarcoma UK.

Sarcoma UK is a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting us, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep our Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.

Thank you for your support.
