We fund research into type 1 diabetes to find a cure for type 1 diabetes

Story

My son Charlie was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2023 aged 5 and it was a horrible shock.

We've both adjusted but managing this disease is relentless. He needs constant monitoring just to keep him safe and alive, insulin pump changes every 3 days, blood glucose sensor changes every 10 days and everything he wants to eat required thought and the inputting of carbs into his pump. Diabetes is unpredictable, exhausting and life threatening - none of which I knew before he was diagnosed.

Charlie asks me regularly when there will be a cure and there is so much scientific progress happening that I truly hope there will be one that he can benefit from if charities like Breakthrough T1D get enough funding.

So, as I turn 50, I've set myself the goal of running the Great North Run in 2025 to raise funds for the wonderful Breakthrough T1D. I'm not really a runner and I last ran a half marathon when I was 37 and vowed not to do it again!!

Please do sponsor me if you can, every small donation helps.

Thanks
