Why I’m Supporting PTSD UK
Nearly three years ago, my life changed dramatically after contracting COVID-19. The physical toll left me with asthma, but the deeper impact was on my mental health. At the time, I didn’t understand what was happening to me—it was confusing, isolating, and overwhelming. It took months before I reached out for support.
Since then, my journey has been full of ups and downs. In 2024, I was formally diagnosed with PTSD, and while that brought clarity, it also marked the beginning of a new chapter in my healing. Every day is still a battle, but I continue to fight.
As my birthday approaches, I want to turn it into something meaningful. I’m taking part in the Virtual Everest Base Camp Challenge—an 80-mile trek throughout September 2025 to raise awareness and funds for PTSD UK, the only UK charity solely dedicated to supporting those affected by PTSD and C-PTSD.
PTSD can affect anyone. It’s caused by experiencing or witnessing trauma—whether through illness, loss, violence, or other life-altering events. PTSD UK provides vital resources, campaigns for better treatments, and ensures no one faces these challenges alone.
