Story
Here we go again!!
We are at it again! On 26th April, the London Marathon beckons. We are running to raise funds for Brain Tumour Research, on a mission to find a cure.
Gav's story
Having been diagnosed with a brain tumour in August 2023, it's been a tough few years. The constant anxiety of 3 monthly MRI scans — when is the tumour coming back, why have I managed to survive longer than the others I have got to know with this terrible disease over the last few years. The constant whys, what ifs, why me — no answers to the multiple questions, night and day, 24/7!!!
Despite all of this, I weirdly thrive on the challenge of proving this illness shouldn't define me or anyone else in my position.
I am heading to London to grasp the opportunities for life and tackle the setbacks head on (excuse the pun)!!
Laurence's story
Gav's story should be an inspiration to us all — Brain Tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, there is no known cure and the prognosis for someone with Gav's type of tumour is 15 to 18 months. I'm running to help Brain Tumour Research and their aim to "Fund the fight to find a cure".
Whilst supporting Gav, I'm also inspired to run in memory of both Steve Holbrook and Aaron Nahani — two incredible individuals who sadly lost their battles with brain tumours. Together we can raise the money needed for groundbreaking research that can shape a future where people living with brain tumours can have hope.
You might also be aware that my preparation has been totally inadequate — after years of battering my body, an operation on my left knee last year has left me unable to adequately prepare — I'm essentially running on one and a half legs!!
We know times are tough at the moment and people are struggling financially, please support our quest to fund the fight for a cure. Whatever you can give is so much appreciated. We honour those who haven't made it this far, and we carry hope for the future.
Love & Thanks
Gav & Loz
