Story
Hi, I'm Ben.
In 2013 my inspiring little sister beat cancer. She did it with the help of a charity called CLIC Sargent (now called Young Lives vs Cancer) who helped my family with financial, emotional and practical support.
Jump to 2024 and my awesome little sister still inspires me! So this year I'm taking on five huge hikes to support Young Lives vs Cancer.
In August 2023 I joined my sister and our amazing friend Hana on a 50km hike around the South West coast during an amber weather warning. The wind, rain and falling branches made the 31 miles of walking up and down hills, on various and sometimes tricky terrains a bit more difficult than it should have been. But it didn't totally put me off fundraising! In September 2023 I completed the 100km Thames Path challenge (during another weather warning - it was the hottest day of the year). This was really hard but I knew the money raised would be helping so many families.
This year I am upping my game and taking on four 100km hikes plus another 50k with Hana and my little sister. With a combined elevation of 9500m this is going to be tough. But it's still nothing compared to what young people and their families living with cancer are going through every day.
Young lives vs Cancer help children and young people aged 0-25 with cancer. They provide free accommodation near hospitals, financial grants, social workers and more, for those children, young people and their families.
My family know how valuable their support is. Anything you can donate will make a massive difference to so many.
Thank you x
