Story
In July, I will be taking part in a solo challenge of 10 continuous ironman triathlons. This consists of a 24mile swim, 1120mile bike and 262mile run.
My story- having suffered a traumatic birth injury myself back in 2006, and continually dealing with the consequences even to this day, I can understand how it affects women on a day to day basis. I feel there is still a lot of stigma attached to these injuries that many woman are having to live with and suffer through. People shy away from talking about it and I often wonder how many others suffer the same as me but in silence. I want to raise more awareness not only of the lasting trauma and symptoms we are suffering but also to help avoid becoming injured in the first place.
MASIC exists to support women, challenge stigma and drive change.
The MASIC Foundation is the only multi-disciplinary UK charity to support women who have suffered severe injuries during childbirth known as OASI (Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries).
The charity is run by injured women and healthcare professionals who are committed to better detection and prevention of injury during childbirth.
