Story
In July, I will be taking part in a solo challenge of 10 continuous ironman triathlons. This consists of a 24mile swim, 1120mile bike and 262mile run.
Mr story - depression, anxiety and low self esteem - I have been through all of them. Most people are quite taken aback when they realise I have suffered and still do suffer with this horrible illness. On the other hand it probably makes sense to a lot of people as to why I am taking on this crazy challenge. Sport has always helped me deal with the different emotions depression can bring.
Depression affects so many and I want to raise awareness that its ok to feel this way and ask for help. It is not shameful and you haven't failed - life is tough. It is often the people who seem happy on the outside that are struggling on the inside - so please always check in on friends and loved ones to see if they need any help or support. I have had counselling many times throughout my adult life which has helped me in times of crises and I am not afraid of asking for help again should I need to.
