Story

Thank you for visiting my page. I have been lucky in securing a charity place to run for the British Heart Foundation in the TCS London Marathon 2026 and I'd be so grateful for your support. Please read my story below.

My name is Alicia and I was adopted at the age of 7 by 2 wonderful parents. However, in early 2023, I was curious to get back in contact with my biological parents and began the search to find my birth father, with full support from my adoptive family.

In July 2023, I took the brave decision to reach out to my birth father, but unfortunately found out shortly after that he died in March 2023 from Coronary Heart Disease.

I’m really lucky to have connected with more biological family members as a result of losing my birth father- however, I have experienced a different kind of grief over the past 2 years, particularly what could have been.

Paul’s family have been wonderful additions to my life and have done a lot for the British Heart Foundation, especially in collecting donations at his funeral, so it’s my turn to give back.

Therefore, I will be attempting my biggest challenge yet- my first ever marathon! This won’t be easy at all, but I’m running for a charity close to mine and my family’s heart (pun not intended!) and so will be giving it my absolute best attempt.

The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target of £2500!

This one is for you, Paul ❤️

Thank you!

Lis
