Story
Welcome to my fundraising page for CoppaFeel!
This November, I will set out on a challenging, extraordinary and life-changing trek, all in the name of checking chests! Along with Gi Fletcher and some other famous faces, I will embark on a 5 day trek in the Indian Himalayas, hiking for up to 9 hours a day through remote areas in high altitudes, in a bid to raise funds towards CoppaFeel's life-saving mission.
It is a big ask but your donations will not only support my fundraising target, but most importantly CoppaFeel! They are on a mission to stamp out the late diagnosis of breast cancer by making sure that young people are regularly checking their boobs, pecs and chests and getting to know their bodies in order to have the confidence to see their GP if something just doesn't feel normal.
Sadly like many others, our family have been affected by breast cancer. My Auntie and then closely followed by my Sister, who was diagnosed in June 2021 after having her suspicions during pregnancy which were dismissed as hormonal changes twice. Devastatingly at the point of diagnosis and with a new baby, we learnt that it had already spread and was therefore stage 4 and incurable.
Despite the odds and the ongoing daily struggles, we were all so proud that in September last year, my Sister Emma completed the CoppaFeel Mont Blanc Trek and raised an eye-watering amount of money for the charity! So now I am following in her (very big) footsteps and taking the baton to help do my bit!
I am hoping to channel some of her spirit and bravery during this trek, as camping and disruption to my routine fills me with absolute anxiety, so this challenge will massively take me out of my comfort zone.🤪There will however be others there with far bigger battles on their hands and any awareness I can raise and help to make people feel confident about knowing the signs, will make it all be completely worth it. Especially if it could prevent another family from going through the same pain of a late diagnosis.
Thanks so much for your donation, no matter how big or small. Your support is much appreciated!
I aim to update this page with my training progress..need to kick my butt into gear!
