Story
Hey
In January 2024 I decided I wanted to raise money for Brain Tumour Research UK. A charity that is close to not just mine, but my family’s heart. In September 2024, I will be taking on a (slightly bonkers) challenge of 7 marathons in 7 days. 26.2 miles a day, for 7 days! This is my why..
In early 2021 our family received the devastating news that Trev, my Father-in-law, had been diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma. Trev had gone for a MRI following numerous visits to his GP, shortly after the MRI he was called back into the hospital as a mass had been found and he was admitted. Following further scans and biopsies, the full diagnosis was confirmed. The prognosis was something we weren’t prepared for. Trev was given just 18 months, and was put straight into treatment. He underwent gruelling radiotherapy and chemo. Despite the harrowing prognosis and the gruelling treatment, he tackled the disease with so much positivity, smiling and joking he even built a summer house, and more recently, paint by numbers! 3 years on since Trev’s diagnosis he battles on with still so much positivity despite there being no further treatment available.
Brain Tumour Research are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumour. £2740 sponsors a day of research, making a huge difference for brain tumour patients. Accelerating crucial research and improving outcomes in the future.
