We provide vital treatment, care & support to cancer patients and families in Wales

Story

Alan, Dad, Pops - was a patient at Velindre for 20 years. In fact, he was more than a patient. Dad spent 10 years participating in 4 clinical trials being the one of the first people in the world to trial new treatments for prostate cancer.

Two of these drugs are now standard treatment, two more are on there way to final trials. If you know someone now, or in the future, who is being treated for prostate cancer then it is likely some of those medications dad tested first. Dad was also involved as a patient voice for the cancer new hospital and also for end of life care which meant he got to share his voice challenging the teams to do their best to give him, and others, more time with their grand children.

Dad therefore leaves a legacy of better treatment for prostate disease and better care at end of life. If you would like to donate in his memory for future cancer patients we would be very grateful.

As a family we would also like to recognise the importance of City Hospice and Marie Curie in Dad’s final weeks and if you would like to donate to them instead then please do.
