Story
I have been raising much needed funds for this amazing charity for over 20 years. In November 2023 I planned to run New York as part of my continued support but had to cancel due to emergency spine/neck surgery after a fall last summer.
The surgery meant no sport for 6 months and as part of the collateral damage my vocal cords were severed during the operation so had limited voice for 6 months but that's another story!
During this period when I could do nothing (and say very little) it made me realise how important sport is for our mental health and wellbeing and if carried out in conjunction with raising money for an amazing charity then everyone wins!
To celebrate my return to running and to ensure I maximise the amount raised I have decided to do not one, not two but three endurance races in 4 weeks!
I tackle The Royal Parks Half Marathon on 13th October, The Great South Run on 20th October and New York Marathon on 3rd November - then I think i'll have a little lie down..... :-)
About my chosen charity; The hospice provides essential care for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as invaluable support for their families across Surrey and London. Every moment is precious, and the hospice ensures that each one is filled with love and care. From diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement, the hospice offers a range of nursing, practical, emotional, and medical support. With your generous contributions, we can help make a meaningful difference in the lives of these brave children and their families. Together, let's ensure that every moment counts.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of this journey and to advocate for such an important cause. Your support will not only help me reach my fundraising goal of £5,000 but also provide vital resources to those who need it most.
I would really appreciate any donation you can spare, it all adds up and think of it as paying me to do a marathon on your behalf - surely a fair swap?!
