Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.

Story

On December 1st it’ll be one whole year since Dad took his last breath. He battled hard throughout his fight with a glioblastoma brain tumour. The strength and determination he showed throughout that year will forever inspire me. More recently a good friend of mine has also been diagnosed with a brain tumour and has been equally as brave in the face of probably the most stressful and worrying time of his life.

I’m hoping to raise awareness for brain tumours and the great work BrainTumour Research do by having a battle of my own. I hope never to have a battle against brain tumours like those close to me have had but this cause feels very close to home so I want to try and help out in any way I can.

My goal is that start the challenge on December 1st, the anniversary of dad’s passing and to finish on the 31st December with a 10km race in St Albans (which I’ve already booked). I think it’ll be an emotional rollercoaster as much as a physical challenge for me and I just hope we can raise some good money for this amazing charity.

I’ll be documenting my journey on our social media and tracking every run on Strava so you can follow me and support me each step of the way.

I hope we can all come together at this special time of the year and support those close to me as well as other families going through a similar thing.

One in three people in the UK knows someone affected by a brain tumour. This disease is indiscriminate; it can affect anyone at any age. Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease since records began in 2002.

Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. It is the only national charity focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. Help fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.
