Story
We realise it is very late in the day to be asking all our lovely friends, family and colleagues to sponsor us, but we need your help to raise as much money as we can for a fantastic cause.
I blame Josh as I delegated responsibility of organising our 'Justgiving page" to him and apparently it was buried on his never ending to-do list which also includes making me tea, a rare occasion these days I can tell you! For those who know us I’m sure you’d agree it's more our style doing things last minute...
So we are embarking on a mammoth 15 miles walk through London on Friday 18th September and we need your support. The money raised will help build a new Maggie’s Centre in Bart's Hospital. For those who don’t know, Maggie's offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends, offering a programme of support that has been shown to strengthen physical and emotional wellbeing. Built in the grounds of specialist NHS cancer hospitals, their centres are designed by leading architects to be warm and welcoming and full of light and open space. They are places to find practical advice about benefits and eating well; places where qualified experts provide emotional support; places to meet other people or simply to sit quietly with a cup of tea.
This is a subject very close to my heart, as I'm sure it will be for many of you. Having somewhere like Maggies for you and your loved ones to go is, in my eyes, priceless...so please dig deep.
If that's not incentive enough, Josh and I are also offering a prize…whoever guesses closest the amount of steps it will take me and Josh (combined) to walk 15 miles gets a slap up dinner on us (and with us which may not be so much of an incentive for some)!!!!
