The Plan
Renovate a 22 year old Land Rover 110 into an expedition vehicle then drive it to Australia.
Why do anything as mad as driving to Australia? Well...for those with a taste for adventure and a need for a challenge; sometimes it is necessary to put those things together into something productive for others.
We will leave the UK early May 2014 and commence the roughly 15,000 mile trip to Australia by road (or track if necessary). Our route is not set in stone and will depend on entry issues, political situations and timing along the way. Essentially we will cross Europe into Central Asia and ‘The Stans’ (expedition traveller speak) meaning Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Krgyzstan. Then we will enter China for 3 week guided crossing. It is required that all transit tourists to China have a guide with them for the duration of their stay. From there onto Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore; where we will load the Land Rover onto a ship for entry into Australia. Our intended plan is to land in Darwin and drive the final 2000 miles throught the Australian outback to finiah in Brisbane, the home of our youngest daughter. We hope that many will choose to follow us on our journey, the joy and despire (if necessary) and choose to support our fundraising efforts for Meningitis Now.
