Story
A few years ago I signed up for a half-marathon. I bought a pair of running shoes I couldn't remotely afford, then went out and ran/shuffled about a mile. Feeling proud of my positive start to training, I celebrated by throwing the running shoes in the cupboard and giving up on the entire idea.
This is pretty typical of my usual approach to exercise - grand plans and bursts of adrenaline-fuelled motivation that quickly crumble into lethargy and guilt.
I mention the above in the hope that it gets across how big a deal the fact I'm actually doing this is for me. I work as a community fundraiser for Ormiston, so I've successfully put myself in a position where backing out of this one would be something close to career suicide!
It really would mean the world to me if you could support me in this foolish endeavour. Ormiston Children & Families Trust is an amazing charity that I'm truly proud to work for. All money we raise here goes into supporting over 130,000 of East Anglia's most disadvantaged children. We pride ourselves on the fact that we will tackle issues and problems for young people that nobody else is dealing with. Visit www.ormiston.org to find out more.
Training is steadily improving and my knees and back are giving me Hell already. Every ache and pain will be more than worth it with your support, so thank you again for helping out.
I'll leave the standard JustGiving legal stuff in below, but the bottom line is PLEASE sign up for GiftAid if you're a UK taxpayer, it makes your donation MUCH more valuable!
Thanks again,
Steve
