Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'd like to introduce you to Ollie Garnett, the younger son of the amazing Deputy Head at the school from which I have recently retired.
Ollie was born 10 weeks early, weighing 3lbs 3oz. and spent the first 7 weeks of his life in Special Care. As he grew and developed he was officially diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebal palsy. Sadly, this means he can't walk like his friends and big brother Sam.
The good news is that Ollie is due to fly to St Louis in America early in July to have an operation performed by Dr Park and his team. This surgery, which is called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) will reduce his spasticity and make it easier for him to be able to walk unaided.
The bad news is that £60,000 needed to be raised in order for the operation to take place. When Ollie's fundraising venture was launched in January this seemed like an impossible amount. Amazingly, due to the the efforts of his family, his friends and a whole variety of fund raising events in our local community this target has almost been reached. Yes, I repeat almost, and that's where I need your help! If you could all dig deep and sponsor me to run the 'down tow up flow' half marathon then we'll successfully push Ollie's fund over it's target.
We've got the easy bit to do..... I run the Half Marathon and you sponsor me, it's as simple as that!
Ollie's the one with the hard work to do. He has a full daily physiotherapy routine to follow which is really challenging but he follows it happily. When he's crawling around on the floor chasing after his big brother Sam he shouts out loudly "I'm running".
Please help Ollie to achieve his special dream.
Shut your eyes now and imagine how you'll feel when you hear that he's up on his feet and away.
