Story
Thank you for visiting the fundraising page of the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq.
Please give generously to support young Iraqi pianist Zuhal Sultan's inspiring plan to establish a national youth orchestra in her home country.
The inaugural course is going in early August - thanks to generous support from the British Council, UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the Iraqi government, and individual giving.
We are still short of our target to make it possible for all of the course to happen and to ensure that the orchestra's existence becomes a reality beyond this first course. We warmly welcome any contributions you might be able to make to help achieve this. Large or small, your donation really matters!
Reaching our full target of £120,000 will make it possible for:
- 33 young Iraqis to attend a residential summer course and tour to Iraq, Armenia and Georgia
- experienced tutors to teach and coach the new orchestra
- visas, transportation, facilitators, translators and photographer
- flights, accommodation and food
- plans to establish further projects beyond the initial summer course
UK charity Making Music is collecting donations on behalf of the orchestra, which is also supported by the British Council in Iraq, US organisation Musicians for Harmony and Scottish conductor Paul MacAlindin.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. Plus, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Please donate to this wonderful cause now! And THANK YOU for your support.
