Story
Thank you to my many, amazing supporters thus far. Sadly I had to change my donation platform from Virgin Money Giving, where supporter names & messages of support were held.
As part of International Women's Day 2021, I have announced I will be cycling all 21 stages of the Tour de France one week ahead of the pros in 2022 for Cure Leukaemia - one of the toughest and most gruelling endurance events in the world and will require me to push my body and mind to the absolute limit.
Based on this 2021's TDF I’ll be cycling 3,383km over 21 days (that's average 160km, every day, for 3 weeks) with some serious hill stages through the Alps and Pyrenees, sometimes conquering 3,000m+ elevation in a day (yep, triple the height of what a Munro is classed as in Scotland).
I’m doing this for a few reasons, to raise £30,000 for an exceptional charity, to push myself harder than I ever have before and the fact it will be an incredible once in a lifetime experience.
I’ll be following in the footsteps of Sarah Hope who was the only woman in this year’s Cure Leukaemia team of 25, I will be documenting my journey along the way.
‘Women are not physically capable of completing 21 stages’... it was once said... YES WE DAMN ARE! I am entirely terrified but... dare to dream baby!!!
All funds raised from the event will be invested directly into the national Trials Acceleration Programme, which runs pioneering treatments for the disease, patients from an increased catchment area of 20m+ people will have access, as a result, to potentially life-saving treatments not currently available through standard care.
I won't do this alone, we will do it together.
Thank you.
Nicole
