Story
I'm guessing you have bounced here either because you know me or one of your own pals know me.
Background ...
My dad fought a strong and brave battle against a variety of cancers for a decade or more. In that time he experienced a variety of highs but also a number of lows. Hospiscare helped us all through that time.
Dad died but Hospiscare remain. I have become a little wiser but still stupid enough to take on a daft challenge for a worthy cause. Mum is still very much a constant but still only half the story. My sister has a growing family but they only have the memory of a grandad. I am the man of the family but will always be my dads son.
Why raise money for Hospiscare ...
Several years ago I ran the Great West Run in aid of Hospiscare. I did this as my dad was in the midst of his battle against cancer(s) and Hospiscare were giving him and mum support and rest. Back then a 1/2 marathon was a real challenge for me and as such I thought it worthy to use in order to ask peeps for money.
What am I doing ...
I'm going to run from London to Brighton. That's a total distance of 100km or five 1/2 marathons. I plan to run and complete it in under 15hrs. Starting at about 5am in London and finishing in Brighton before the pubs close (before 10pm).
Can I do it ...
I hope so.
As I type this, the furthest I have run is a 13.1 miles but this is 62 miles, so I'm thinking it'll be hard going.
What can you do ...
Money always helps. I need to raise a minimum of £400 (event standard) but would love to exceed that. Beyond that, general support would be brilliant. I've just entered online and already I'm a tad freaked about what I've just done. Tell me it'll be ok and I'll storm through the 100km .... I might not believe you but all posiitve messages will be hugely appreciated.
