Update 13/10:
I did it! Not quite as fast as I wanted, just over my predicted time of 2.15; the official finishing time was 2.16.36.
Thank you all who donated so kindly to my charity - Plan UK, and for your support before, during and after the race!
Also a big thanks to Charlotte, John and Harvey who ran with me and to Sophie and Sanna who supported us from the side of the road! A great day, and I'm surprisingly not that sore...I suspect this has given me a new drive to try more races!
Thanks again,
Nick

After dragging myself through the British 10k Run in London in July 2008 on 1 and a half leg, I was challenged to up the ante this year.
I am therefore going to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October, raising money for Plan UK together with my Turner Broadcasting colleagues. My current training regime stipulates about 12-15miles per week, but it's steadily increasing - and going quite well. I'll stick my neck out and hope for a sub 2h15min finish!
Plan UK assist children in need in developing countries, and Turner is committed to this cause, including building a new school for children in Mali, one of the poorest countries in the world.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Plan UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!

Update: I recently ran the Samaritans' 10k Fun Run in Crowthone with my friend Bruce and finished on a hot day in 59m17sec, so the pace is getting a little better!

Update Aug 25th:
I've now broken the 10mile barrier quite comfortably, completing a training run in 1h36min last weekend. The schedule now increases to 4-5 runs per week, and I'm now focusing a bit more on the pace.

Update Oct 4th:
Only a week to go!!
After some niggling injuries, I've run 11.5miles and a 10k race in the last 8 days as the final prep, and I feel confident to get around the course....what time will be another issue :)
Thank you all again to those kind people who have donated. I've reached my target, but would love to go past it!
