Story
Tuberculosis (TB) is treatable and can be beaten!
On 15 April, I ran the Brighton Marathon for TB Alert with a chip time (start to finish) of 4:00:17.
It's now just over five years since I completed antibiotic treatment for pulmonary (lung) tuberculosis. You can read a full account of my illness and recovery here and my progress on twitter here.
While TB can be serious and even fatal, it is treatable and I recovered fully. Early diagnosis and completion of treatment is vitally important to ensure that TB does not recur in those who've been treated.
Brighton used to be my home town until moving to Glasgow last year, when I swapped training along the south coast for the Clyde. Brighton is also home to TB Alert, a dedicated national and international charity, the only British charity working solely on fighting TB in the UK and overseas.
