Story
I will be travelling to Namibia in June with the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK to help build and renovate a school, and raise money for research into the prevention and treatment of bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK after breast and lung cancer. Almost 100 people in this country are diagnosed with the disease every day.
It is a cause particularly close to my heart as I lost my grandmother to bowel cancer two years ago. I am undertaking this project partly in her memory, and partly as a personal challenge so I will one day be able to look back and know I did something amazing.
I am well on my way towards achieving the fund raising target of £4,000 but I want to raise as much money for the charity as possible! More than half of the money I raise will go directly to the Bobby Moore Fund for their important research into cancer, and the remainder will go towards the project costs.
We will be working in the Damaraland region of Namibia and will spend 11 days renovating the Tubusis Primary School, which has 275 pupils. The classrooms and library are in poor condition and the school sorely lacks furniture and books. The lavatories need to be repaired and replaced and the Project team also intends to build new sports facilities, including a football field.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you for reading this and thank you so much for your support!
