This year over 110,000 people walk united, against dementia.
We aim, with your help to raise over £9 million to help anyone affected by dementia.
Story
I will be doing the 7.5km walk in memory of beautiful nanny Joan Cope who passed away in January of last year. My Nan had a stroke in August 2016 which brought on dementia. 6 months later she passed away four days before my 21st birthday in January 2017. In the short time that she was very poorly the dementia completely took over and changed the lady that i had known all my life. Luckily i was the only person that she remembered and every time i saw her she would smile even though she would think i was a child it was so heart warming to see her beautiful smile. There is nothing worse seeing the person that you have known all your life look at you like they don’t know you.
Dementia doesn’t just affect the person but also the family and friends around them.
I am raising this money to help not only the families but for the cause itself to help rid the world of dementia.
Any donations that are made will make a difference so thank you so much!
At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
