Story

WELL HELLO THERE POP PICKERS. ANOTHER YEAR ANOTHER MARATHON. THIS WILL BE MY 4TH CARDIFF MARATHON I'VE RUN. I RAN IT WHEN I WAS 15 YEARS OLD THEN THOUGHT IT'D BE A GOOD IDEA AFTER ALL THOSE YEARS TO DO IT AGAIN IN 2007 AFTER A LOT OF TRAINING AND DID THE 13 MILES IN ONE HOUR 42 MINS. LAST YEAR I HAD A GIG THE NIGHT BEFORE IN PLYMOUTH AND AS MUCH AS I TRIED TO NOT DRINK I FAILED AND POLISHED OFF A BOTTLE OF JACK AND HAD 3 HOURS SLEEP AND A MASSIVE HANGOVER THEN I FOUND MYSELF ON THE START LINE FOR THE MARATHON. MY MOTHER AND FATHER WERE WITH ME AND AS YOU CAN IMAGING MY MOTHER WASNT HAPPY WITH THE STATE ON ME BUT I WAS DETERMINED TO DO IT IN A MESS OR NOT. TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I SAW IT AS A CHALLENGE SO OFF I WENT. I GOT TO THE 10 MILE MARK AND ALMOST COLLAPSED BUT I KEPT TRUCKING AND FINISHED IT IN 2 HOURS 20 SOMETHING MIN'S. NOT BAD CONSIDERING I DIDNT DO AN OUNCE OF TRAINING. THIS YEAR IM GONNA TRAIN FULLY AND HOPEFULLY BEAT MY ONE HOUR 42 MIN TIME.

ONCE AGAIN I'LL BE RUNNING FOR CANCER RESEARCH WALES SO I'D BE VERY GREATFULL IF YOU COULD DIVE DEEP INTO YOUR POCKETS FOR SUCH A GOOD CAUSE. I UNDERSTAND TIMES ARE HARD SO A LITTLE ALWAYS GOES A LONG WAY IN HELPING THE PEOPLE WHO SUFFER WITH SUCH A TERRIBLE DISEASE.

THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH.

THE WELSH FOREST GUMP
