Story
Ian Walker Challenge: 20th May 2008
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page which has been created to raise funds for the road safety charity Brake by remembering Ian and completing quite an arduous challenge.
Ian was tragically killed on his way to work on his motorbike by a car that was travelling on the wrong side of the road. He was deeply loved and now missed beyond measure by his fiancee, family and friends. He cannot be replaced.
So to keep Ian's name going strong and Ian always did like a good challenge, a Challenge was formed in his name. The challenge for the team of 7 from Minorplanet Systems plc is to complete a Coast To Coast route starting at St Bees Head on the West Coast and finishing 210 miles later at Robin Hoods Bay on the East coast, but the route is to be completed on mountain bikes across some rather challenging terrain supported by a volunteer team, again from Minorplanet. The route is off road as much as possible and includes terrain in the Lake District, The Pennines and the North Yorkshire Moors, all in 5 days! Starting 20th May and finishing 24th May.
You can track us at www.vmiweb.co.uk/challenge and we will try and keep everyone updated on the blogsite at www.mplc2c.blogspot.com
