We Raise awareness of these cancers to support patients, carers & families

Story

In September 2006, we walked round the Isle of Wight (I got blisters on first evening!). In April 2008 we scaled Ben Nevis (I nearly fell off!). In October 2009 we did the 3 Yorkshire Peaks (I nearly caught hypothermia!). In April 2011 we walked the Dambusters Walk (Mark Gay necked whisky thinking it was apple juice!) Slightly later than the standard 18 months, we are now going to walk 15.8 miles between Tintagel and Rumps Point on the South West Coastal Path with the usual suspects - Jon Wedger, Sompy, Jonno and Bomber. Invited guests so far are Dave Hill, Dan Dewdney, Scotty, Mike Carney and Jim Dommett. We'll see how many have the courage ;)

The cause couldn't be worthier. The OPA do very good work around the oeasophagus, and also promote awareness and action against heartburn (link to follow). As you may know, my Dad had a brush with a split oesophagus a few years ago, and is aiming to raise 35,000 pounds.

This is my small part to try and help him out.

Persistent heartburn means that stomach acid is likely, long term, to start to change the cells in your oesophagus.   This can lead to Barrett’s Oesophagus where streaks of cells change colour.   Eventually this can turn into cancer if it is not treated.   Read more about it at www.actionagainstheartburn.org.uk   About 5000 people lose their lives in the UK each year from oesophageal adenocarcinoma and many of these deaths could be prevented if the pre-cursor condition of Barrett’s Oesophagus was diagnosed and treated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please if you could spare some cash, donate now. Thankyou
