My Story
At 22 years old in March of last year I was diagnosed with an inoperable and (currently) incurable Brainstem/Midbrain Brain Tumour. I cannot explain to you in words how awful it is to have no current treatment options that will cure your disease. I was working in a Neurosurgical Unit at the time in Anaesthetics & continue to do this role but now in a pioneering clinic on Harley Street.
14 months later I became "stable" which is the news that so many brain tumour patients never even get. However, stable means so little in the grand scheme of things; a cure is what is needed!
I've subsequently become an Ambassador of The Brain Tumour Charity with 20 other Young Adults who are determined to speed up the routes to finding a cure.
After 8 months of coming to terms with my diagnosis I started a Blog called Lobe Yourself because the brain is composed of lobes. It's a no-negativity space aimed at adults with Brain Tumours who need readily available shared information, real-life positivity stories and honest reviews of alternative treatments. It's helped almost 70,000 people worldwide. You can visit it here: www.lobeyourself.blogspot.com
My personal goal is to raise £5,000 by 2020 for The Brain Tumour Charity who were the only solid point of reference throughout my experience. They're constantly striving to find a cure sooner while improving quality of life and this is all I could ask for.
