Story
Beit Hanoun City - Gaza Strip - Palestine While the Gaza Strip is known by many through the media and its political coverage, the daily struggles of people living there continue to get worse over time. Locally, the city of Beit Hanoun has seen its fair share of war damage and bombed buildings. With a population of 40,000 Beit Hanoun has an agricultural economy which has been severely impacted through sanctions and air raids. The dispersement of people and inability to access normal goods has led many people to be unable to grow their own food and having to rely on handouts through various charities. The agricultural sector is currently facing a severe lack of seedlings and small plants. As a result, the prices of agricultural kits have increased, especially seedling prices, making them unaffordable to many. My aim is to establish a nursery that will help overcome this economic nightmare by providing seedlings at cost price and employing people locally to help run it as a not-for-profit organisation. As a result, the nursery will help the people of Beit Hanoun to fend for themselves and feed their families independently. The project will help establish a nursery producing vegetables and seedlings for watermelons, olives, onions, potatoes etc. The aim is to obtain 1000m2 and will consist of:
1. A nursery greenhouse on 150m2 2. A storehouse and workers office within 40m2 3. 400m2 for productive plants. 4. The remaining are for agricultural experiments.
I believe the project is a worthy cause that will directly help the local community and have the potential to change lives for many families. As a microfinance project, it is self supporting and can continue to make an impact over many years. Please donate generously and help me make your donation go a long way
Thanks
