Story
I'm going to try to run 53 hilly, off-road miles on the West Highland Way in Scotland!
**Update** - I've done it, thanks to everyone for their support!
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page, I'm hoping to raise awareness for Beating Bowel Cancer, by running further than I've ever done before!
I've chosen to run for Beating Bowel Cancer again as they are dedicated to saving lives and providing support for bowel cancer patients and their families. As my Dad is a bowel cancer survivor, this cause is very close to my heart, and having run for Beating Bowel Cancer last year, I know what a friendly, supportive and inspiring charity they are.
In started running in late 2011, having lost 5 stone earlier that year, mainly through dieting and cycling. By chance, I entered my first 10K race in November 2011, discovered parkrun, and since then, I've been totally hooked on running!
I've run at least 5K every day since November 23rd 2011 and over the past 16 months, I've run my first half marathon (Silverstone in March 2012), marathon (Manchester in April 2012) and Ultra Marathon (the HighPeak 40 mile race in September 2012). I've also been very lucky to have made many new friends and to have met many, many inspiring people.
This year, I've decided to try to again run the furthest I've ever managed to in one day and I've entered the 53-mile Highland Fling race on 27th April 2013. The 'Fling is Scotland's biggest ultra marathon race and follows the West Highland Way trail, from Milngavie, near Glasgow, to Tyndrum.

It's going to be a massive new challenge for me, definitely the toughest run I've yet to undertake, and it would be great if I could raise some money for Beating Bowel Cancer while attempting to run a distance that even a year ago, I'd have thought was something I could never possibly do.
