Story

Well that’s it the race is run.

I managed to knock 9 minutes off my personal best by finishing in 3:33:45 (a full 29 minutes faster than last time I ran the Robin Hood marathon).

I was placed 296 out of the 1325 ruuners that completed the run.

I am a little disappointed not to have gone under 3:30 but I did give it everything and a cruel headwind that lasted from mile 19 to20 all but did for me. The last 6 miles were a bit of a blur with every mile  taking longer than the last.

I am now nursing a couple of impressive blisters and pretty much everything aches.

Many thanks again for your support; I am sure that Shelter will make good use of your donations.

That's it. Training done.

Thanks for all your encouragement.

TRAINING MILES SINCE JUNE 1st - 601

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I've decided to run a marathon again this year (my third) after a year off. Together we managed to raise a combined total of over £1,600 for Shelter through sponsorship of my previous runs so I thought we should see what we could achieve this time.

I know that times are tough but hope that you can spare a pound or two to support Shelter who really need our help at present.

These are a few of the things that they do:

Housing advice helpline

Our free housing advice helpline  is open, from 8am to 8pm seven days a week. Last year, we answered 59,949 calls on a wide range of subjects, from problems with a landlord to finding a place to sleep and handling mortgage arrears.

Shelter advice centres

Shelter has a national network of 27 local advice centres offering expert information, advice and advocacy. Our advisers let people know what their rights are and explain their housing options. Advisers can also help clients negotiate with councils, landlords and lenders.

We also recognise that one problem can lead to another, so many of our local advice centres can help with:

  • disability and/or care needs
  • debt problems
  • welfare benefits.
Many thanks for your support.
