Story
On September 8th 2013, a close friend and colleague of mine from bmibaby, Michael Grundy, sadly passed away whilst taking part in the Budapest Half Marathon, aged 25.
Michael loved running and seeing the world. He has been a frequent half marathon runner for many years.
During the Budapest Half Marathon, Michael collapsed and unfortunately not even the immediate medical help could save him.
He will be very sadly missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
On September 29th 2013, I ran and completed the Robin Hood Half Marathon, which I dedicated to Michael Grundy. His family would like the proceeds to go to Cardiac Risk in the Young (C-R-Y) for all the good work they do at raising awareness.
C-R-Y is also blessed with an impressive array of Patrons, from a variety of sporting, entertainment and medical backgrounds, including actor and comedian David Walliams:
"I am very pleased to have become a patron of CRY. The charity does amazing work in raising awareness of cardiac risk in the young. The tragedy is that the deaths of so many young people from cardiac problems are preventable, and I am really impressed with CRY's scope as a charity.
Not only does it promote heart screening in the young but it also offers counselling for those who have suffered a loss. It's a real honour for me to be associated with this amazing charity."
So please give whetever you can, because every little really will help support the great work they do.
