Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
My previous trek for SCOPE to Guatemala was challenging but this one will be more arduous due to the constant high altitude (12 to 14000 ft). I will be trekking with fellow participants amidst two of the world’s mightiest mountain ranges – the Himalaya and the Karakoram. Each day will consist of up to twelve hours on foot over rough terrain that will be made easier by the spectacular scenery. At night we will be 'under canvass' and while the daytime temperatures will be quite high, at night the temperature normally drops to below freezing. I am putting much of my spare time into fundraising and physical training to prepare me for the challenge. Apart from re-joining the gym I i can regularly be found trekking over one of the few local hills. My fundraising events include treasure hunts, discos, quiz nights, and sponsored beach walk for 100 people (see wwwburnham-on-sea.com).
The money raised will go towards Scope’s vital work with people with cerebral palsy and the charity’s ongoing Time To Get Equal campaign, which fights for equality and human rights for all disabled people.
Please support me by sponsoring me now online. Your help will make a real difference. On my return all sponsors will receive a small gift all the way from Ladakh, the highlights from my diary and a few photos.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Scope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support. Happy days… Mike
