Story

Hello!

+++++++++++++++ Latest News ++++++++++++++++

I ran the Jungfrau Marathon on Saturday (see blog at http://micksmountain.blogspot.com) but it's not too late to sponsor me.  Please help me get to £100 per mile.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Last May I had to sit and watch my kid brother Tony die from a massive inoperable brain tumour.  The tumour struck just as he was getting his life together.  He left behind his wife Max, 2 year old Eve and 3 month old Marcus. Tony's short term memory was shot to pieces by the tumour so he had to be constantly told what was wrong with him but he always remained cheerful and positive to the end.  He was an inspiration in the true sense of the word.

When Tony died I decided it was time to get my finger out and do the things I'd always fancied doing. The Jungfrau Marathon was one of them.  It is 26.2 miles long with 6000 feet of ascent (equivalent to running the London Marathon and running up to the top of St Pauls 18 times) .  It is known as the most beautiful marathon in the world (take look at these fantastic photos of last year's event). I suspect it's also known as the most painful!

To get to the top I'm going to need your encouragement  so please dig deep and support my chosen charity.  I've seen the effects these things can have on families (we've had two other brain tumour deaths in our family over the years) so please help Brain Tumour UK help sufferers of this awful condition.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Brain Tumour UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.  So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Mick

NEWS!!!!!

- I've reached my second target of £2000 so, with three weeks to go, I'm raising it to £2500.  If you haven't yet sponsored me then please dig deep so we can help the victims of this horrendous condition.  Remember, it could be you or a loved one.

- I've just returned from a fantastic training week in Interlaken.  We ran the whole route in stages.  On Thursday we were running in a snow storm in six inches of snow.  Two days later we ran the same route in glorious sunshine and no snow.

- Corporate Sponsor - Rakiro,  the company I am currently working with have very generously sponsored me for my full initial target of £1000 (so my target is now £2000!).  If you're in the market for business change or IT programme/ project management give these guys a call.  I've known them for many years and they do a very professional job.

- Check out my new training blog at http://micksmountain.blogspot.com

- I must say that I am humbled by the response and generosity of you, my sponsors.  You can't imagine how much easier it makes the training knowing that I have your support.  Thank you.
