Ironman Wales 2015 · 13 September 2015

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

So why Parkinsons UK?    My mother suffered from Parkinsons towards the end of her life so I know what it's like. Also, I was born exactly 200 years after Dr James Parkinson who first described the disease so I feel a connection. There's a good chance a cure might be found in our life times so let's try and help find it by making a donation to this worthwhile cause.

So far I've rowed 100km on an indoor rowing machine, cycled over 200km in a single day, swam one mile butterfly in 9.9 deg C water without a wetsuit and lost 5 stones in weight  Not bad for a 60 year old. Attempted Ironman Wales 2015 - did 2.4 mile swim and 112 mile cycle but was 3 mins over cut off point so they would let me do the marathon.  Will try again in 2016.  Made up for it later in month by running from Oval to Richmond Park did 2 laps and came back (45km).

If you haven't donated on line before please be reassured that donating through JustGiving is simple and totally secure. Your details are safe with them and they won't send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity.  It’s the most efficient way to donate so please give what you can.

Thanks
