It all went off well. Almost exactly 5 hours (5.02), which was precisely on plan. Slow enough to actually enjoy it and allow time to stop off and chat with the family (feeding me Mars bars) on the three occasions they heroically managed to fight the crowds and catch up.
So I didn't present too much of a bow-legged John Wayne impression at the London Book Fair at Earls Court the next day.
Safely this side of embarrassing. 26,821st out of the 34,309 to both finish and finish early enough (under ten hours!) to get medals.
397th out of the 560 (both sexes) in my age group...
Though for those of you who saw any of it on television the cold heavy/icy rain was unpleasant at times. Not really ever going fast enough to keep warm!
Best and thanks again
