Story

Hi everyone!

Shortly after writing my latest fitness book (http://tinyurl.com/3jvfhzs), I was chewing the fat with my BBC colleagues (http://tinyurl.com/3bhhzbm) and jamming with the band (http://tinyurl.com/2gnoey) when I suddenly decided that, rather than telling the prime minister how to get fit, I should show him. So I put my name down for the Robin Hood half marathon on 11th September.

Given my vast list of illustrious sporting achievements (Notts U9s chess team; Clare College 3rds; Bath Venturers CC; Little Red Machine) I thought I'd level the playing field slightly by restricting myself to 18 days' training before the race. Watch out Hailie, I'm coming for you.

I'm raising money for WaterAid, mainly because the government has thus far steadfastly refused to recognise BrandyAid as a valid charity. I haven't set a target because I'm not sure how much money it will take to provide clean and reliable water supplies for everyone in the world, but it's probably quite a lot.

Here's the science bit:
