Story
Thanks so much for visiting my page. Here's why I'm running LDN 2021.
My Dad, Alex, was a legend, my hero.
He was the most determined, humble and hard-working man, 10 times the man I am - that being said he probably would have disowned me following my dramatics in 2019, collapsing 23 miles in..
.. Anyway, I’m back again this year - one year later than expected - I've been training my arse off for 2 years to ensure this time I smash it, for him.
Dad passed away suddenly in June 2017 at just 54 from a massive heart attack, a great shock to us all as he was fit and well, on top form, as always. We were even due to be playing 5-a-side together on the night he left us. It still sometimes doesn’t feel real.
The cause I'm running for is the British Heart Foundation, a charity which I have raised over £5,000 for to date, which could genuinely be the difference in someone being alive or not today. It's not my own personal donations that have raised that amount, it is from donations which I cannot be thankful enough for. Your generosity is always unbelievable, and so humbling.
My fabulous better half Alice is running this year too, I am
hoping she can carry me over the line if I have another wobble... She is running for the St John’s Ambulance who looked after me last time and probably saved me from serious damage in 2019, so we are doing it for them as well.
Your support is always so appreciated, let's do this!
Matt x
