We at CARE International, fight poverty to help the world’s most vulnerable people.

Story

Firstly, thank you for the time spent reading through and visiting my justgiving site. I will be cycling from Lands end to John O'Groats starting 5th august 2016, the route i've chosen is just over 1000 miles and will take me 14 days to complete. Below I've quickly summarised the reasons for choosing my charity and some examples of where your donations can make a difference.

I've chosen to fundraise for Care International UK, which is a charity with an extensive influence over 84 countries, which are some of the most impoverished in the world. My decision was swayed by the terrible conditions that some people have to live and raise their children in. The life of hardship which surrounds their struggle for water, food, lack of medical supplies and other general amenities, are experience on a regular basis, and so any donations made can contribute towards relieving at least some of these tragic circumstances. Care international provide support in disaster relief, hunger and poverty, shelter, medicine and health, HIV and AIDS, water and sanitation, but if you want any further information i have provided a link to the Care International website here. http://www.careinternational.org.uk/

In addition i have come across some examples, which i would like to share, that display where your donations can have lasting and dramatic changes to peoples' lives elsewhere.

e.g.

£5 provides a mother giving birth during an emergency with a newborn kit containing a blanket, cloth nappies, safety pins, soap and socks to help her take care of her baby.

£20 provides a shelter kit for one homeless family

£25 provides 5 families living in malarial zones with mosquito nets preventing the entire family from diseases such as malaria.

£50 gives a family over a year’s worth of water purification solution

£100 can help train a primary school teacher in afghanistan, who will educate hundreds, if not thousands of children.

£1000 enables setting up a village school in remote parts of india, providing training and support for teachers, as well teaching materials allowing children to recieve their basic right to education

Once again thank you for reading through. I will be updating this page with further information concerning my training, the route, promotional video and progress during the event.

In addition I have set up a facebook page at www.facebook.com/lejogaug2016

So lastly and most importantly, please donation any amount which you feel comfortable to give, as any contribution is helpful in helping others. THANK YOU!
