Story
Little Mila is just 8 months old. She was diagnosed with Tuberous
Sclerosis Complex (TSC) in March 2014 and faces many challenges
ahead. TSC causes tumours to form on vital organs like the brain,
kidneys, heart, lungs, eyes and skin. There is no cure but new
research is helping to find better treatments.
We at JGM Agency are proud to be involved in the fundraising, and
we’ve organised a special charity event we’ve called Matches for
Mila to raise money for Mila’s vital treatment. On Sunday 27th July
the JGM team will be playing 12 football matches in 12 hours,
against teams made up of our willing clients and suppliers. Yes you
read that right, 12 hours of continuous football!
The JGM team aren’t exactly in peak physical condition so who knows
what will happen!
Mila’s condition...
The specialists have confirmed Mila has numerous growths that
sit on top of her brain that block message pathways and cause
her problems. Mila has a SEGA (Subependymal Giant Cell
Astrocytoma) inside her brain which affects only 20% of patients
with TSC. Mila also has a low heart rate resulting from a tumour
blockage in one of her heart’s valves.
We are fighting for an important drug called Everolimus which is
widely available internationally, but deemed too expensive for
the NHS to offer. An adult using this drug can cost about
£35,000 per year for life but the benefits have been proven to
be completely life changing. The cost is less than half this for
a baby.
Recent trials have proved the drug shrinks 95% of brain tumours
in children and can also prevent tumours developing on the
kidneys, lungs and skin. New research has also shown that it has
a beneficial effect by reversing potential learning and
behavioural difficulties and preventing seizures. The world’s
top specialists in TSC are based in Cincinnati, USA and have
offered to help Mila.
Please give whatever you can. It will mean the world to Mila.
