Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Christian Aid will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Here's my initial plan at the start of this - Rather than run just one marathon this year, I'm going to do 5, based in the capital cites of UK and Ireland. These are Cardiff and Dublin in October 2005, London on 23rd April 2006 followed one week later by Belfast on 1st May and finishing with Edinburgh sometime in June.
Things haven't gone quite according to plan.
I ran the Cardiff marathon on 9th October finishing in 3hr 34 mins. It was a very enjoyable marathon; I've put some comments on it on http://ukirelandmarathons.blogspot.com/
Unfortunately I was unable to run the Dublin marathon. I picked up a knee injury known as 'runners knee' about 10 days before the marathon and I had to give up all running for 4 weeks.
I got myself just about ready for London and in preparation completed the Larne half marathon on 1st April in 1hr 34 - good progress. But a high temperature put and end to my London hopes although I have deferred my entry until next year so I'll get another chance.
I recovered in time to do Belfast on 1st May. I started off great but struggled over the last 10 miles and finished in 3hr 40.
I'm hoping to get a Christian Aid spot in the Edinburgh marathonon 11th June - I'll know within the next few days.
That will have to do me for this fund-raising venture. With injury and illness things haven't gone quite to plan but its been fun.
Many thanks for your support and donations for Christian Aid.
