This is the third time since 2003 that I have ridden this amazing event. When I returned from Paris after my second ride in 2010, I arrived home to find my wife had been admitted to hospital with a serious heart condition. She had, unselfishly, insisted that I was not told of this occurrence, so that I could complete the ride she knew meant so much to me. Sadly, Pat died suddenly in December 2013 and  I’m cycling the 460km from London to Paris with The Royal British Legion, in her memory.  I did it to raise much needed money for their vital welfare work supporting the Armed Forces community, providing welfare to the whole Armed Forces family – serving, ex-Service and their dependents and campaign on issues affecting Service people. The Royal British Legion spend £1.6 million a week providing practical, emotional and financial support to the Armed Forces community.
