Story
As a 13 year old at Bristol Cathedral School I was in awe of 2 of my fellow students who aged 16 had cycled the length of Britain. Since then the feat has played on my mind so this year I hope that one of my dreams will come true and I will complete the ride.
In the process of fulfilling one of my dreams, I want to help fulfill the dreams of others. Gillian and I are blessed to have 3 beautiful healthy children. In November '09 I heard the story of Alice Halstead on Radio 5 Live. Alice is 18 and for two and a half years has suffered from a rare form of diabetes which requires hourly medical attention. Alice was on the radio to describe her condition whilst raising awareness for the Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity who had enabled her to leave her hospital bed in Yorkshire to travel to London with her family to see the Lion King. Such a simple act for many yet the first time in two and a half years that Alice had experienced 'freedom'.
I am determined to complete this ride and raise my target to enable other seriously and terminally ill children like Alice to fulfill their dreams whilst I fulfill one of mine.
