Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi, This will definately be my last major fundraising run, apart from getting older, running can be particularly difficult for me as i have a heart condition called Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia (PSVT), which means i have to train for 9 months instead of 3, it is something that worries my wife every time i go for a ling run.
I have run six Great North Runs and one London Marathon all for local charities or school funds. The London Marathon I ran in 2009 was almost a step too far as at around 15 miles PSVT kicked in an I had too walk and jog the rest of the way. This time...I have been very strict with the training and it is paying off. My goal would be 4 hours but realistically will be nearer 4.30
This year I became a Borough Councillor in Chelmsford and at the first Full Council and investiture of the new Mayor (Bob Shepherd) Farleigh Hospice was selected as the Mayors charity, at that moment I had decided to the Marathon and promised the new Mayor that I would run the Marathon, if I could get a place.
It's a great charity making a big difference to the people of Chelmsford and beyond. The 26 miles 385 yards of blood, sweat & tears i will probably shed is nothing compared to the people that need this fantastic facility & resources. It will be worth every last step.
Thank you, Mark Springett
