Story
Thanks for visiting and a heartfelt thank you to all those who have already generously sponsored me.
It's the Big 40 for me this year, but rather than subside into my pipe and slippers I've decided to embrace my fortiness and do something different. I'm going to turn my age into miles and run the Ridgeway 40 - www.ridgeway40.org.uk - on Saturday 8 May 2010. This will be my longest race yet after 4 marathons (mere 26.2 milers each of them). I hope to complete the run in about 7.5 hours.
I'm too old to party so in lieu of a present or any other hullaballoo I'd be greatly touched if you would sponsor me as I raise some money for the Stroke Association. As I run, I will particularly be thinking of my uncle Jim and Graham, Ellen and Rose's Great-Grandpa, both of whom were affected by strokes. By coincidence, Saturday 8th May would have been Jim's 77th and Graham's 89th birthday. How amazing is that!?
Latest news at 9 May 2010:
I successfully completed the 40-mile course in an approximate time of 7hrs and 9 minutes. Cor.
What can I say? Thanks to Dan for running with me every step of the way, and to all the other fabulous runners who I met along the way, and extra big thanks to Sarah, Rose and Ellen for letting me spend so much time out training and supporting along the route. Thanks also to James and Halcyon for their support on the day. I had a great team behind me!
