Story

MANY Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

POST EVENT WRAP UP: MANY thanks to all who supported my Gobi run!!! Words cannot express my gratitude to all who supported me, particularly my corporate sponsor, Fast Lane, whose generousity and support was overwhelming. Equally however, I'd like to say thanks to all friends and strangers who supported this cause. Your generousity and kind words of support made ALL the difference, so again, thank you, thank you, thank you!

In the end, I crossed the finish line 250 km after the start. It was a long, arduous and amazing challenge - but one filled with memories and new friends that will last a lifetime. The freeze dried food got old very quickly, but as the days passed the backpack became lighter, thus making each day slightly more bearable. Amazing scenery and local culture.

In the end, I came in 91st place out of 124 or so competitors - but finishing near the top was never my ambition.

Once again, a sincere thanks to ALL who supported me and the great work that River of Life do. Your support meant a great deal to me, but will mean a world of difference to those who need it most.

God bless!

8th June UPDATE: Final preparations as the last days approach before leaving for China. Still pushing hard to achieve the £2,500 I committed to with River of Life. Everyone says it can't be done at this stage, but I'm refusing to give up. Anyone reading this, please know that whatever you can spare will not go to waste (100% of what I raise is going DIRECTLY to River of Life via this website) and will be appreciated beyond words! PLEASE GIVE!

5th June UPDATE: Preparing last minute details for my trip out to China on Thursday. Have been contacted by Rob, the Chairman of River of Life Uganda to express his gratitude toward this initiative and to everyone that has given so generously. Rob and I have never met, so he was very enthusiastic about how I came to support his cause. I told him that after considerable research, River of Life touched me the most. Take 5 minutes and visit their site at www.riveroflifeuganda.org. Unless there's an empty space where your heart should be, you'll be moved by their work and want to support the good that these people are bringing to a part of the world that needs it.

Let's not stop until we hit the £2,500 mark! Let's all support them so that they can go about bringing aid and hope to these people. Forward this site on to anyone you know who can help. Please.

UPDATE: 2nd June - What fantastic support thus far! With the gift aid bonus, we're already 25% of the way there! Please help us to reach our goal. I am cashing in every favour owed to me, every contact I know, every angle I can think of. Seriously, if you knew what amazing work these guys do, you'd understand where I'm coming from. Please support with any amount you can. If you provide me with your email address, I am sure I can get River of Life to give me a breakdown of how they'll invest this money to the aid of those who need it most.

The Uganda River of Life Church does amazing work caring for orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda. They provide homes, health care and hope for those that need it most.

Those reading this have the ability to aid them in their efforts to help those less privileged. If you can spare the cash, hundreds of human beings- whom you will never meet - will be better off as a result.

Check out the website: www.riveroflifeuganda.org.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s the most efficient way to sponsor me - and Uganda River of Life gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now! Time is short and I'm out to raise £2,500 for them before I leave for China on 11th June.

MANY thanks to everyone, Mark
