Story

On July 7th 2007, I started running from John O'Groats and reached Lands End on 12th August.   This event has the backing of Her Grace the Duchess of Northumberland, patron of St. Benedict’s Hospice.

This 874 mile run took me 5 weeks, with a daily average run of 24 miles approximately. All funds raised are in aid of St Benedict's Hospice (Charity No. 1019410) and are in memory of my Mam who spent her final days battling cancer at the Hospice.   All funds pledged are passed to St Benedict's Hospice. Any overheads associated with the run will be coming out of my own pocket (and the bairn's money box!).

I have been fundraising for the Hospice since 1994.  During this time I have ran numerous Great North Runs, New York and London Marathons and more recently a series of longer distance runs that I have organised myself.  These have included running from the west to the east coast of (134 miles in 4 days) and running the Hadrian’s Wall coast to coast path dressed as a Roman Centurion.  The longer distance events have seen me raise anywhere between £1500 and £4000 for the Hospice.

I would appreciate it if you would consider sponsoring me for the John O’Groats to Lands End run in 2007.   Any amount, no matter how large or small, would be greatly appreciated.

For news on the progress of my training and pictures of the actual run itself please check my blog at www.markallison.com.

I am still accepting donations and will continue to do so right up until the cheque is presented to the Hospice on 27th September.
