Chernobyl Challenge 2007, 20 March 2007
We support children suffering from cancer to improve their life chances

Story

On the 24th of August, 2007 I will be travelling with a group of 9 other motorcyclists on a marathon round trip to Chernobyl in the former Soviet state of Ukraine.

Our journey will take us 15 days and will cover around 3,500 miles during which time we will ride across Holland, Germany,  Czech Republic, through Poland  and into the Ukraine. Once there we will spend a day visiting the site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and the nearby abandoned town of Prypiat.

We will then travel north into Belarus - the country where children are still suffering from the after-effects of the Chernobyl nuclear accident. In Belarus we will meet up with representatives of The Chernobyl Children’s Project (UK) and also see the work which is being carried out to help care for the children which have been the most affected by the worlds largest ecological disaster.

When  we leave Belarus, we will start the long journey home through Poland, Germany and Holland and finally back to the UK, hopefully arriving there on the 9th of September.  It  will be a long tiring journey but should be well worth it as the money that we raise will help our nominated charity to give the care  that is so badly needed for the children of Belarus.

The riders are covering all of their expenses.  Unlike other sponsored activities, where a proportion covers the cost of the activity, none of the money raised as sponsorship goes anywhere other than to The Chernobyl Children's Project (UK).

Please take a look at our website, which has a lot more details about the whole trip and (more particularly) the Chernobyl accident and The Chernobyl Children's Project (UK).

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Chernobyl Children's Project (Uk) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
