Story

I am taking part in a Cross Atlantic sail, setting off on the 20th November for a journey that will hopefully take only 18days.  Goodwinds Daily Log

For some this will seem like the opportunity of a lifetime (which I certainly subscribe to), but for others it will seem like madness.  The thought of wide open seas, dried food, constant swell and ensuing sea sickness fills them with horror.  This doesn't even touch on the fact that you have to live in close confinement with five smelly blokes for almost three weeks.

Hardship is something that kids learn to endure when they are unlucky enough to suffer childhood illness.  The Great Ormond Street Hospital has a unique history when it comes to finding out how children's bodies fight disease, and curing the incurable.  This is the reason that I support the GOSH and specifically the OSCAR campaign.

You can look at the OSCAR campaign at the following link - OSCAR

And see Oscar's story here - Oscar's story

Whatever or however you feel about my adventure, I hope that you can join me in raising a small amount of money for a cause that I believe makes a difference.

I will sign off with one of the jokes I have prepared to entertain my shipmates:

Two pirates are standing on the ship's deck mid Atlantic.  One says to the other "where are your buccaneers?" The second pirate replies "on my bucking head"

Ciao, Mark

PS: We hope to publish a regular blog during the crossing and I will update this page with the link. Goodwinds Daily Log

PPS:  If you would prefer to donate the old fashioned way you can write a cheque payable to  'Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity'  and post it to me  c/o AM Nomikos, 12-18 Grosvenor Gardens, London, SW1W 0DH
