We support people with complex disabilities to communicate and experience the world

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - after such a great response we've just upped the target to £1,000!!

Amy (my better half) is one of 4 children, she heads up the gang followed by Thomas (23), Hannah (21) and Josh (18).  Thomas has a great sense of humour, loves trifle, banana milkshake, bright colours and water and is also severely disabled.  He has no speech, is profoundly deaf and is mentally only a few years old.  But please don't feel sorry for him because he has a fantastic quality of life due to the care and attention he receives from Sense.

Sense is a charity which specialises in multi-sensory impairment, providing support to the individual as well as parents and family.  Thomas now lives in a home ran by Sense UK along with 3 other individuals.  He goes to the pub, has been taught how to rock climb (after many patient hours invested in this by his care workers), regularly goes swimming and loves a holiday in Costa-del-Britian every now and then.

As a way to give something back, raise some money and big up the charity's profile I (some what stupidly) agreed to abseil down Alton Castle (like Alton Towers but the other side of the valley).  I should probably mention at this point that I don't really like heights that much...and it's 145ft!

So don't be tight, click on the button and follow the instructions.  If you want to come and watch then the details are below.

Thanks Mark and Thomas
